GREDA Hires Mr. Leo Dion as New Director of the Knox County Development Corporation (KCDC)

GREDA is pleased to announce it has hired Mr. Leo Dion as its new Director of the Knox County Development Corporation (KCDC).  Mr. Dion is replacing Mr. Oliver Ferguson who recently accepted an opportunity at the University of Illinois.

Mr. Dion is coming from a position as the Peace Corps Fellow/Director of the Henry County Economic Development Partnership.  Through the Peace Corps he has also worked for the Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs, & the University of Illinois.  He has served internships with the City ofGalesburg’s Community Development Department & American Friends Service Committee in Chicago,IL.

Mr. Dion received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & English through Southern Illinois University.  He then went on to earn his Master’s in Information Science through the University of Illinois.  He is expected to earn his Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Community Development through Western Illinois University by the end of this year.

Mr. Dion will begin his employment with GREDA on August 6th.  He said, “GREDA has a great team of business and community leaders. Combine that with this region’s asset base for economic development and it makes working in this environment is an exciting prospect.”  GREDA is excited to begin working with Mr. Leo Dion.
